After 3 Years of nudging, prodding, and pushing, the Shea Crossing HOA Board is proud to report mission accomplished! At the time of this posting the traffic lights at the Winchester and Shea Road intersection are up and functional. Shea Road traffic will see a blinking red light and Winchester traffic will see blinking yellow light. This will continue for about a week and is routine; it is a practice that wakes up drivers to the new fact that there is now a traffic light here! We expect these lights to be fully operational within a week or two.
The HOA Board got to work on this as one of our first priorities back in 2022. We took turns calling and pushing the City of Collierville to get this done. The intersection is dangerous and could lead to loss of life. I am convinced this traffic light would not have happened for another decade if the Shea Crossing Board had not pushed so hard so long. Milton Grant (our developer) funded the major portion of this traffic light back in 2010 to serve the expected population growth in the area. Mr. Grant also funded a traffic light at Shea Road and Houston Levee. We have learned from experience funding something does not motivate local government to get it done. The next board will add the Houston Levee light to the agenda and start pushing.
The HOA Board has engaged legal advisors to assist in the modernizing of our Covenants & Bylaws that were written fifteen years ago for a developer-based HOA. The Shea Crossing HOA was taken over by the residents in 2021. Now is the time for us to put into place "resident-based" guiding documents. Details of this initiative are only available on our protected FRONTSTEPS site. If you are a resident of Shea Crossing and have not yet signed up, now is a good time to enroll. Go to the FRONTSTEPS tab above and proceed to the site. The enrollment process will take mere minutes.
The HOA Board has engaged Advance Pool to repair damage due to normal wear and tear. Our pool house repair/renovation project was completed in 2024 and should give us a decade of savings. Repairing the pool was planned for 2025. Fortunately much of the structure has held up surprisingly well over the years. A portion on the south end of the pool will require our attention. The concrete structure has cracked and needs repair. Once that is accomplished the tiles that were falling off the wall near the coping will stop. It was this crack in the base structure that led to the tile problems.
Work has begun. The pool will be drained, repaired, cleaned, refilled over the next two weeks. Under no circumstances should residents enter the pool area that will remain closed and locked until it is safe. When the work is done and the chemicals are adjusted to the standard safe levels, we will officially open the pool. Rule of thumb, if the furniture is not out the pool is closed.
The mailing to residents should be received this week. Email notification was sent last week. If you do not get either, it is necessary to go to the portal (see tab above) and go to FRONTSTEPS to register or to check and correct your contact information. If you are enrolled but did not get mail, contact Keith Collins and ask for Gabriela. Share your problem and she will get it resolved.
We look forward to a good meeting. The agenda is in the mailing, including the location of the meeting and the date and time. As a reminder, if you are interested in running for the Board and want your name on the printed ballot at the meeting, you must complete the BIO information (personal, professional, and why you want to serve) and send it to Gabriela Reyes at: greyes@keithcollinsco.com or fax 901-753-6215
